Dear Patriot Families,
It is with great pleasure that I serve as the new Principal at Denbigh High School. Denbigh High School has much to celebrate, one of which is becoming a Virginia Department of Education Fully Accredited school! This accomplishment happened through the hard work and dedication of our school community €”teachers, administrators, staff, students and parents. All stakeholders played a major role in our accreditation success! Also, Denbigh High School celebrates its 50th year of educating the Denbigh community! What a year of accomplishments!
As I begin my first year as principal of such a remarkable school, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I have worked in many capacities prior to my arrival at Denbigh. Most recently, I served as Assistant Principal of Instruction at Heritage High School. Prior to my time at Heritage, I served as an Instructional Supervisor, Middle School Assistant Principal, School Counselor and CTE teacher. I am not new to the Denbigh community. I worked as a school counselor at Denbigh for four years; therefore, coming back the building principal was like a homecoming for me.
Denbigh is a school where focused, data driven decisions are made to benefit our students. Our focus on teaching the Framework, using feedback and data to make decisions and building strong student, staff and community relationships guides our work. We do this in an effort to prepare our students to be college, career and citizen ready with the 21st century skills necessary to thrive in a world where changing is constant and learning never stops.
My focus this year is continued progress and community involvment. Our staff will continue to unyieldingly work on behalf of your child to meet their learning needs and help them excel academically. As a community of stakeholders, we will work together to ensure the success of our children throughout the school year. In order to do this, we need you! Your active involvement in your child €™s education will assist us in ensuring success. Please continue to have open communication with your child €™s teachers, counselors and administrators which will help to bring the community together for the best interest of your child. I encourage you to get involved throughout the school year. Together as a school community we can work to educate our students and help them achieve success.
As I begin my first year as principal of Denbigh High School, I am excited about the opportunities. We have a year full of opportunities to succeed academically, expand our connections to the community and celebrate 50 years of education excellence. I am looking forward to a successful school year! Go Patriots!
